Kenneth Hebrink, age 81, passed away on February 27, 2025, at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, IA.

Kenneth Allen was born to Loren and Delia (Schoppers) Hebrink on March 30, 1943. He was the ninth child born to the family.

Ken attended various country schools near Harmony, MN, Ridgeway, IA, and north of Cresco for 1st–7th grade. He attended school in Cresco for 8th –12th grades, graduating from Cresco High School in 1960. Upon graduation, he got a job at Puritan Locker in Cresco.

He was baptized as an infant in Preston, MN and joined First Lutheran Church in Cresco in 1967. In February 1992, Ken, Jason and Charlotte transferred their membership from First Lutheran to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco, Iowa. He served as a church council member and on several church committees for many years and committee chairman to Boy Scout Troop 63.

Ken served in the United States Air Force from 1961–1965.

On July 7, 1965, he met the love of his life, Charlotte Jean Hovey, daughter of Clarence and Gladys (Walker) Hovey. Ken and Charlotte were united in marriage on September 16, 1967, at First Lutheran Church in Cresco by the Reverend Carsten Smeby. They resided in Cresco all their married life. To this union, two sons were born: Chad Allen and Jason Michael.

Upon honorable discharge, Ken returned to the area and worked briefly at Puritan Locker and then Harmony Cold Storage from 1966–1982. He returned to Puritan Locker in Cresco from 1982–1986. Following a heart attack on January 6, 1986, he took a disability retirement. During retirement, he worked part-time for Cresco Family Optometry as an appointment caller for 30 years.

Ken enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, bowling and playing cards. In retirement, Ken enjoyed sewing and quilting items that he and Charlotte sold at various craft shows as K & C Crafts.

In March 2021, Ken and Charlotte welcomed into their home her deceased brother’s dog, Bentley. They both fell in love with Bentley and treated him as their child.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte; sons Reverend Chad A. Hebrink of Berwick, PA and Jason M. (Jessica) Hebrink of Cresco; two step-grandsons Caleb and Bryce Shea; siblings Remona Kisrow of Rochester, MN, Wendell (Myrt) of Midwest City, OK, Rodney of Harmony, MN, Gary of Rochester, MN, and John of Blaine, MN along with many nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents Loren and Delia Hebrink; his in-laws Clarence and Gladys Hovey; siblings and their spouses Lyle, Alvin (in infancy), and Dale; sisters-in-law Donna Hebrink, Elaine Hebrink and Joanne Hebrink; brother-in-law LeRoy Kisrow and several nieces and nephews.
