OBITUARY.
Barber.
Ellen Farley was born in Ottawa, Canada, June 1, 1849. She was the third daughter of eight children born to Patrick and Julia Farley. When very young with her parents she moved to Canton, St. Lawrence county, New York. There her early life was spent. After her mother’s death she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Margaret Gaynor of Potsdam, New York.
About 1863 she removed to Daylon, Ohio, where she made her home with her sister Mrs. J. B. Barber. In 1871 they all came to Howard county, Ia., Here on November 12, 1882, she was united in marriage to James Erwin Barber. The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. Father M. A. McCarty. One child, Anne Lucile Barber, was born to this union. This daughter, who is a trained nurse, attended her mother faithfully through the last illness. She with the husband and father survive to mourn the loss of a truly Christian wife and mother.
The care of our loved one was greatly lightened by our kind friends. She bravely and happily passed to her reward Sunday, December 7. At the last she had the comfort of loyal relatives, kind friends and was sustained by the rites of her church in which she had complete faith.
The funeral services were held from the Church of the Assumption December 9th, and were conducted by Rev. Father P H. Ryan. Interment was at Oaklawn, where she sleeps beside her sister.
This Christian loving wife and mother is mourned by her husband, daughter, one sister, Miss Anne Farley, Canton, New York, and one brother Matthew Farley of the same place; besides other relatives and friends.Card of Thanks.
We wish to express our heartfelt and sincere thanks to all friends and neighbors who so kindly aided our loved one through sickness, death and burial.
J. E. Barber.
