OBITUARY
MOLLOY.
John Patrick Molloy was born June 24, 1842, near Loughrae, County Galway, Ireland. He came to America at the age of seven; spent the greater part of his youth in Columbus, Ohio, then moved to Wernerville, Juneau Co. Wis., with his parents and sister. In pioneer days he worked in the woods, on the river and in the saw mills of that state and later on a farm.
On Aug. 15, 1878, at Manston, Wis., he was united in marriage to Mary Kelley. Six children were born to this union, two of whom died in early childhood. He spent most of his married life in Wisconsin, except two years in S. Dak. He moved to Chester, Iowa nearly sixteen years ago, where his wife preceded him in death, twelve years ago.
He was a sufferer for many months, waiting patiently and humbly to be called to a better life, surrounded by the tender care of his children.
He died Jan. 24, 1919, his life and all its duties as son, husband and father having been performed faithfully and according to the teachings of his church.
He had no neighbor who was not his friend, and even in his last days of patient suffering could summon a smile and a word of cheer for them all. He was the especial friend of all children and the beloved companion of many of them.
His only worldly wish before he was taken was to see his son Frank and this was not to be granted as he was in the service of his country and unable to get home.
He is survived by one daughter, Mayme; three sons, Peter, Frank and John, all at home, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Kelley of Chester.
Funeral services were conducted from St. Stephens Catholic at Chester, Rev. Fr. Bondlage officiating with interment at Riceville.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Riceville.
