Gladys Bieri, age 98, of Cresco, died on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Olmsted Medical Center Hospital, in Rochester, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco, IA, with Father Jacob Rouse officiating. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
Gladys Ellen Bieri was born in Paris Township, Howard County, Iowa, on December 29, 1925 to Joseph Truka and Genevieve (Jenny Stevenson) Truka. Gladys married Raymond Bieri on September 3, 1945 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes, Iowa. Over the years, Gladys worked at various businesses in Cresco including JCPenney, Bob's Red Owl, Coast to Coast, Donaldson's, and at the Cresco Hospital as a cook. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Gladys was a member of the Notre Dame Catholic Parish in Cresco, and was a member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary. Her faith and family were important to her.
Gladys is survived by her daughter Cheryle (Curtis) Boettcher of Wykoff, MN, son-in-law David Burns of Lawler, IA; grandchildren Rachel (Tim) Eickhoff of Zumbrota, MN, Nichol (Paul) Arndorfer, Brian Boettcher, all of Wykoff, MN, and Chad (Amanda) Boettcher of Spring Valley, MN; great-grandchildren James and Clara Eickhoff, Kayla and William Arndorfer, Cora Boettcher and Ruby Boettcher; sister Margaret Baker, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, daughter Patricia, brother and sister-in-law Leland and Evelyn Truka, brother-in-law Ron Baker, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Irvin and Hermina Curtis, and Jerry and Helen Vawter.
