Old Resident of Howard County.

Lawrence Shields, an old and respected resident of Howard Center passed away at the home of his daughter in Chicago, May 18, 1918.
Mr. Shields was born in Kings Co., Ireland, in the year of 1832, came to Rockford when a young man, later moved to Howard county and settled on a farm in Howard Center, 1876. Returned to Rockford in 1895. Deceased was a man of upright Christian character, respected by all who knew him. He leaves the following children to mourn his death: Annie Shields of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Doyle of Seattle, Wash., John Shields of St. Clair, Minn., Thoams Shields and L. W. Shields of Rockford.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Church in Rockford, Ill., Monday morning at 10 o’clock, burial in the Catholic cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Nov 15, 1830 which does not agree with the above.
