OBITUARY.
JULIUS GASSETT.

Julius Lucius Gassett, son of Lucius and Sally Gassett, was born at Ludlow, Vt., Oct. 11th, 1850. The family came to Exeter Twp., Green county, Wis., in 1853.
On Dec. 3rd, 1874, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Bonker, who passed away May 24, 1892, leaving one son, Herman L.
On Jan 15. 1896, he was married to Bertha L. Ross. To this union was born one daughter, Maybelle Mina.
His material efforts began as a farmer on the home farm which he purchased from his father and owned until August, 1910. About 1884 he began in a small way in the creamery business, going to Dayton in the spring of 1891. The family home being broken up in 1894, he sold out and moved to Belleville and in 1896 together with the son Herman engaged in the hardware and implement business continuing therein for ten years. Disposing of his business interests and later the farm, he moved to Cresco, Iowa in 1910 where he resided until the last summons came.
During a memorable service in the M. E. church at Dayton, Wis., under the pastorship of Rev. Wm. Rose, he was converted, joined the church and dedicated himself to Christian service. He kept the faith to the end. Early in left he was an ardent Prohibitionist when that was not the popular side of the liquor question.
Failing in health for about two years he could not rally and life closed for him in the early morning of May 15, 1917{sic}, age 67 years, 7 months and 4 days. A short service was held at the late home 725 N. Elm Street, Cresco conducted by his pastor, Rev. E. G. Copeland. The funeral service was held in the M. E. Church at Belleville, Wis., Friday afternoon, May 17th and interment made in the Belleville cemetery.
Of his father’s family, there still survive two sisters, Mrs. Alma J. Ross and Almina H. Gassett. Of his own family he leaves the wife, Bertha, the son Herman and daughter Maybelle, five grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
