OBITUARY.
COLE.
Hattie M. Cole was born at Warren, Pennsylvania, Oct. 7, 1836, and passed to her rest at her home in Cresco, Ia., February 23, 1918.
With her parents, she lived at Naperville, Ill., till 1854, when the family moved to this county.
When a mere girl she taught the first term of school ever taught in Howard county; and except the time she was a student in Penn Yan Academy. she followed the teacher’s calling till her marriage to J. C. Kellow, in 1877.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, two sisters, two brothers and a host of friends.
In her death earth loses of its best and Heaven gains its own.
Funeral services were from the home Feb. 26, conducted by her pastor, of whose church she had been a member for many years. Interment in New Oregon cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS.
I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all the neighbors and friends for their kindly assistance and sympathy in my recent bereavement.
