OBITUARY.
Howard.
Mary Jane Hart was born at Roxbury, Mass., Nov. 9, 1851, and departed this life Jan. 6, 1918, aged 66 years, 1 month and 28 days.
When quite young Mrs. Howard moved to Wisconsin, and later came to Howard county, Iowa, where she has since lived, with the exception of 12 years spent in Nebraska.
On July 18, 1868, she was united in marriage to Clay Howard. To this union were born six children—Wm. H. of Whitney, Mont.; Mrs. Effie Bateman of Cresco, Charles E., who died in 1894, aged 21 years, George H. of Cresco, Kate Elizageth{sic} who died in 1893, aged 7 years; Albert, who died in 1893, aged 3 years.
After a week of very severe illness our departed sister went to her rest, leaving to mourn her death, her husband two sons, and one daughter and many friends.
She had long been a disciple of Jesus Christ and at her death was a member of the M. E. church of Cresco. Sister Howard was one to whom to possess religion meant a life of self sacrifice, and service. Many now call her blessed, and her memory will long remain. Truly it could be said of her “She hath done what she could; come home.”
Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. A. Pettit will be held Wednesday. Burial at Oaklawn.
Card of Thanks.
We wish to express our deep gratitude to the kind friends who have to thoughtfully extended help and sympathy to us during the recent and previous illness of our wife and mother
