OBITUARY.
Perry.
Cyrus Comstock Perry, son of Amos and Hannah Bowen Perry, was born Nov. 26, 1830, in Elizabeth, St. Lawrence county, N. Y.
He was one of nine children, all of whom have preceded him to the Glory Land.
When he was three years of age his parents moved to Ohio and shortly after came to Illinois.
He was married October 10, 1852, to Rebecca Louisa Page at Dundee, Kane county, Ill. To this union seven children were born, A. D. and W. E. of Cresco, C. E. of Austin, Minn., Mrs. G. E. Simonds of Minneapolis, M. O. and J. J. of North Yakima, Wash., and L. G. of Ft. Defiance, Arizona.
In the fall of 1867 they came to Cresco, Iowa, in which town and its vicinity they have lived ever since.
When about 13 years of age he was baptized, uniting with the Baptist church in Dundee, Ill., in which faith he lived and died.
He departed this life July 15, 1917, at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 19 days, leaving to mourn their loss his aged wife, their seven children, 21 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, he having never been called upon to mourn the death of one of his descendants.
“He rests from his labors and his works do follow him.”
“But what are a few dark weary days,
What matter our buried joys?
When we stand at last on the verge of Time
They will seem like useless toys;
For hope still beckons and points beyond
To a glorious, golden clime,
Listening and longing,
We seem to hear the sweet refrain—
“Sometime.”
The funeral services were con-conducted{sic} by the Rev. J. A. Pettit at his late residence on Monday, July 16. Burial at Oaklawn.
