Death of Mrs. Pat Sullivan.
The sudden death of Mrs. Pat Sullivan which occurred Saturday night, June 30th, by a bolt of lightning, cast a gloom of sorrow over the community. Mrs. Sullivan had been down town in the early evening shopping for over Sunday. Shortly after returning home her brother, C. T. Bagan and wife rode in from St. Paul in their auto and just before the storm of rain and lightning. The men folks were out in the barn putting away the car when they heard the awful crash which seemed almost like an earthquake and lit up the house. They rushed towards the house and imagine their surprise to find the lifeless form of Mrs. Sullivan lying on the grounds.
Thinking of her husband out without coat or hat she went out to bring them to him and it was while passing beneath a tree which was adjacent to a path that led to the barn when the bolt came which so suddenly ended her young life. Her sister-in-law was standing in the door of the house and she received a shock, the lightning passing between her feet scorching one side of her foot.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 o’clock, Rev. Father Gmeinder reading the requiem Mass and the remains were laid to rest in St. Patrick’s cemetery, followed by many sorrowing relatives and friends. The sympathy of the entire community is extended Mr. Sullivan and the other relatives.
