The sudden death of Grandpa Cummins Saturday summoned Emmett Cummins to the Joe Hayes home Sunday.

Thomas Cummins, one of Howard County’s oldest residents, passed away last Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Hayes. Funeral services were held on Monday with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Those who were here from away to attend the funeral were his son Phil. Cummins, and daughter, Mrs. W. M. Gray, and Mrs. Richard Cummins and daughter, Mrs. Mary Baur and little son, all of Chicago.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Aug. 19, 1834 and died March 31, 1917. He is buried in the Calvary Cresco Cemetery.
