CRESCO - Carin Irene Perkins, age 73, died Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in Woodland, CA. Carin was born on September 7, 1950, in Ames, to Dr. Donald and Helen Perkins who resided in Cresco from 1960 to their deaths in 1997 and 2016 respectively. She married Richard Webb on September 6, 1992.
Carin graduated from Crestwood High School in 1968. She received her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of California Davis and worked for the state of California. Carin and her husband Richard Webb moved to the Minneapolis area where Carin worked for the state of Minnesota in the analysis of cancer statistics. Upon retirement, they moved to Spooner, Wis., and built a lakehouse on Little Casey Lake. In 2018, they returned to California to live in Woodland.
In addition to her academic and professional accomplishments, Carin loved the outdoors, was an avid backpacker, grew wildflowers in Wisconsin, and enjoyed nature and hot springs. Another enduring love was her love for cats, always having at least one and often two cats who adored her.
Carin will be sorely missed by her husband, friends, and family. She was the "C" in the Perkins alphabet family and is survived by her husband Richard Webb, her siblings, Bob (Robert) Perkins (Pound Ridge, NY), Ann (Perkins Schultz) Fields (Lansing), Ed Perkins (Decorah), Faye Perkins (Jackson, WY), and Gretchen Perkins (Cresco) and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The "D" in the family was Donald Richard Perkins who died in 1987.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with her ashes to be interned at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Cresco, where her parents are buried.
