CHESTER - Howard E. Falck, 92, of Chester passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at Good Samaritan Home in St. Ansgar.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with burial at Chester Hill Cemetery.
Howard was born December 19, 1930, in Decorah to parents Fred and Verna (Davis) Falck. He attended Winneshiek Country School, Decorah High School and graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1950. He was drafted into the Marines and served from 1951 to 1953.
Howard was united in marriage to Marlys Norman on February 26, 1952, in Riceville. They were blessed with three sons and a daughter. He was an avid fisherman; always having his fishing pole handy ready to stop at a lake or pond. His talents thrived in the garden and making creative wood or steel projects.
Howard is survived by his wife Marlys of over 71 years, children Michael (Patrice) of Amery, Wis.; Duane (Lynette) of Decorah; Derwin of Hart, Minn. and Diane (Mark) Ihde of West Union; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with another one due this month. Sisters are Evelyn Schnitzler of Decorah; Norma Albertson of Calmar and Janice Broghammer of Decorah; and sister-in-law Joan Menken of Charles City and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Verna, siblings and in-laws Vernon (Maxine) Falck; Alice (Stanley) Kurash, Linda (Galen) Huhe, John Schnitzler, Louis Albertson, Jack Broghammer; Cliff (Paula) Norman, Marcella (Al) Ficken, Phyllis (Leonard) Robinson, Alberta (Floyd) Friedrich, Jim Menken, and Janice Stevenson.
