Harvey L. Leff, 68, of Riceville, IA, died on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Mayo Clinic- St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.

Harvey Lynn Leff was born on November 9, 1954 to Lawrence and Evelyn (Conrad) Leff, along with his twin brother, Arnold Leff. The two were so close that they were inseparable. They lived together and farmed alongside one another until recently retiring. Harvey loved farming, but he worked several other jobs throughout his life as well. After working at Meinerz Creamery in Fredericksburg, Harvey worked at West Tile in Katy, TX. He later worked at Quality Pork Processors in Austin, MN and eventually worked for Hormel in Austin, where he retired after 27 years. Harvey and Arnold lived and farmed in a few different areas throughout their lives. They built a home from scratch when they lived east of New Hampton, IA and later moved to an acreage by McIntire, IA. Together, they faced an unthinkable tragedy when they lost their entire herd of dairy cattle, calves, hay and silage in a barn fire on a farm that they rented. Harvey and Arnold eventually settled near Riceville, where they bought a farm and built a new house.

Harvey is survived by his siblings Phyllis Larson of Chester, IA, Alvin Leff of Lime Springs, IA, Norman Leff of Riceville, Marian Fox of Fredericksburg, IA, Sandy Dailey of Oelwein, IA, Dallas (Evelyn) Leff of Riceville, Carol (Mike) Reisner of Fredericksburg, twin brother, farming partner and best friend Arnold Leff of Cresco, IA, sister-in-law Maxine Leff of Lime Springs, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Leff, brothers-in-law Gene Larson, Virgil Thein, Dale Fox and Bill Dailey.

Funeral services for Harvey will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, MN with Pastor Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will take place at Saratoga Cemetery in Saratoga, IA. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
