FORMERLY of PROTIVIN - Evelyn Rose (Stachura) Romens, formerly of Protivin, Iowa, passed away at age 87 on Sept. 16, 2022 in South Hadley, Mass.
The visitation is at Gearty Delmore Funeral Chapel at St. Louis Park, Minn. on Monday, Sept. 26 from 9:30-11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church at St. Louis Park.
Burial and graveside service will be held in Protivin on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. with a social time immediately following at the Holy Trinity Community Hall.
Tributes and memorials can be sent to The Saint Paul Seminary.
Evelyn was born on Feb. 6, 1935 in Mosinee, Wis., one of eleven children born to Stanley and Lucia (Hilber) Stachura. She was united in marriage to Elmo Henry Romens on Feb. 16, 1957 in Slinger, Wis. The couple were the owner/operators of the Protivin Locker until 1983. She then sold advertising for the Times Plain Dealer. She enjoyed going on walks, dancing, playing cards, but mostly she enjoyed talking with friends and family about her faith, kids, grandkids and her greats.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Randall (Theresa), Reanne (Richard) Harper, Ronald (Sue), Ryan (Sonya), Roger, Rhonda (Jeff) Miller, Rajean (Ernie) Eldridge, Rebecca (Brian) Schwarzentruber and Rochelle (Tom) Horinek; 42 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Lorraine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo; brothers, James, Howard, Donald, Raymond and Charles; and sisters, CeCelia, Berniece, Gertrude and Marian.
