John Harvey “Flaps” Erbe, 64, of rural Ridgeway passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 7, 2022. John was born on August 19, 1958 to Dale & Geneva (Adams) Erbe in Mountain View, Missouri. His family moved to Iowa when he was young. John graduated from Osage High School in 1976.

John was a jack of all trades, with over the road truck driving his favorite occupation. In his later years, he enjoyed making fishing jigs and selling them at swap meets.

John had a passion for the outdoors - fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He enjoyed anything related to automobile or tractor mechanics. He was an active member of the Chester/Lime Springs Fish & Game Club.

John was never at a loss for words, always having a hearty laugh for family and friends. He may have been a little bossy and demanding at times, but he had a heart of gold. If you were ever watching a show or movie with John, we hope you had already seen it, because he was an active commentator and an animated participant.
