Dianna Faye Voigt, age 80 of Lime Springs, passed away on Monday, September 27th at Regional Health Services of Howard County, surrounded by loved ones.

A “moment of silence” would perhaps be inappropriate in remembrance of the vibrant life of Dianna Faye Voigt. Always quick with a quip or a kindness, and rarely at a loss for words, the Lime Springs resident left an impression on everyone she met, often telegraphing her spirited personality by introducing herself as “Lady Di.”

Born in Rolla, ND to parents LeRoy and Zelma Langerud, and raised in Utica, Minnesota, Dianna graduated from St. Charles High School in 1959 and worked as a telephone operator in Rochester before moving to Stewartville and starting a family with her husband, Lester, of 59 years. That union was frozen solid on January 20, 1962 in a minus-20-degree wedding ceremony at the Lutheran Church in Rochester. Lester recalls that it was so cold that the couple was hesitant to roll down the windows on the getaway car, even as they realized that a prankster cousin had left a hunk of limburger cheese on the manifold… They finally relented. Their love grew a family that now spans four generations.

They made Lime Springs their home in 1974, where Dianna worked as an office manager for Doc Lyon of the Lime Springs Veterinary Clinic, and later for the Cresco Veterinary Clinic. Her love of animals extended to her beloved dogs- Amigo and Roxie. In her free time, she pursued her interests in sewing, knitting, and genealogy; sharing her knowledge, passion, and a hug with anyone she met.

Dianna is survived by her husband, Lester Voigt of Lime Springs; their children: Kelly (Scott) Jenkins and Heidi (Joe) Trouten of Lime Springs, Steve (Tamra) Voigt of Spring Valley, and Mark (Tessa) Voigt of Decorah; 10 grandchildren: Curt (Mary) Jones, Sarah (Emmanuel) Barron, Steven (Adrienne) Jenkins, Whitney (James) Wiseman, Brenna Trouten, Braiden (Mary) Trouten, Ruby Nelsen, Corrina Voigt, Alexandra (Sam) Voigt, and Jacob Voigt; eight great-grandchildren; Felix, Luca, and Lenix Barron, Davina Voigt, Kaydence, Peyton, and Zackery Jenkins, and Santiago Ortiz; and her sisters: Yula Mundt and Lori Workman.

Dianna is preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Zelma Langerud, and younger brother Curtiss Langerud.

A remembrance will be held at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco on Friday, October 1st, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
