Delores Mae Vsetecka was born on February 16, 1929, in Sumner Township, Winneshiek DeCounty, Iowa. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Ludmilla (Voyek) Vsetecka. She was raised on a farm southeast of Protivin, Iowa and was baptized at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. It was also there that she made her First Communion and Confirmation. Delores attended country school near her home, also the parochial school in Protivin and graduated from Rudolphinium High School in 1947. She earned her Teaching Certificate from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA. She taught in the country schools of Winneshiek County for five years.

On October 22, 1951, she was united in marriage to Raphael Vsetecka at Holy Trinity Parish. They lived in the country between Protivin and Jackson Junction for a year and in December 1952, they moved to their farm near Cresco where they resided up until the time of Ray’s death. Delores then moved to her home in Cresco where she lived for the past five years. Delores was a gentle, loving mother who strived to give her children the best while also raising them to be hard-working, independent, and faithful beings; prayer and church were very important to her. Throughout the years, she was a volunteer at Notre Dame Parish and supported the school. With her strength, she truly was the glue binding her large family. She enjoyed family gatherings and loved farm life. Delores was also a woman of many talents, including bread baking – especially Czech breads, kolaches, and rolicky. Another talent of hers was piano, which she started playing as a young girl. She could listen to a song and play it right back by ear. She would play any chance she got, whether it be at her house, the rest home, or an area meal site. She and Ray loved to dance and gather with friends and neighbors. They enjoyed traveling to see her sister who lived in Sparks, Nevada, and took a memorable trip to the Czech Republic.

Delores is survived by her children Donna (Mike) Miller of Cresco, IA, Quentin (Darlene) Vsetecka of Cresco, IA, Teresa (Robert) Uhlenhake of Ossian, IA, Anita (Rick) Richard of Monona, IA, Lori (Rod) Freidhof of Cresco, IA, Denise (Bryan) Sheehy of Cresco, IA, and Rod (Rachel) Vsetecka of Cresco, IA, and son-in-law Mark Carolan of Ridgeway, IA.
