Mary Ann Nelson was born in Canada, near Montreal, Nov. 23, 1844, and died May 17, 1916, aged 71 years, 5 months and 25 days. She moved with her parents from Canada in 1866 and settled on a farm near Preston where she resided until 1863 when she was united in marriage to Samuel L. Nelson and to this union were born six children of whom three are living, Wm. A., of Cresco, Walter H., of Gettysburg, S.
D. , and Mrs. W. A. Henry, of Cresco. Her husband preceded her in the sleep of peace about four years ago. She had been a resident of Cresco for the past 17 years. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the M. E. church by the pastor, Rev. Williams, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery by the side of her husband.
