Cresco Plain Dealer Feb. 18, 1916 P-5 C-6

WEBSTER.
Eliza Jane Carlyle was born Feb. 19, 1824, in West Canada, or what was then called Canada West. She was married Jan. 25, 1841, to Julius F. Webster at Niles, Mich., and later moved with him to or near LaPorte, Ind., where they resided until they moved to Iowa. Three children were born to them at or near LaPorte— Cyrus Henry, Laura J. and Mary Adelaide. In 1857 the family moved from Indiana direct to Howard county, and settled on a homestead in Howard Center township. In 1865 they moved to Vernon Springs and in 1866 or early in 1867 to Cresco, the then terminus of the railroad in Howard county. Her husband, Mr. Webster, died in Cresco August 18, 1892. Mary Adelaide died in June, 1884, and Cyrus H. in April, 1913. Laura married Henry T. Reed of Cresco. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Webster made her home with her daughter in Cresco, at whose home she peacefully passed to the beyond early Sunday evening, Feb. 13, 1916, at the ripe age of 92 years, lacking but a few days.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the home of Judge Reed, Rev. John Gammons officiating. Interment in Oak Lawn cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her maiden name spelled Carlisle.
