Samuel Freeman, third son of a family of seven children, Mrs. Sarah Flag of Fox Lake, Wis., being the only surviving member, was born at South Amboy, N. J., on Stepember{sic} 3, 1816. In 1846 he was married to Mrs. Lucinda Brown who died in November, 1873. To them were born four children, two of whom preceded him. In 1879 he was married to Mrs. Jennie Coats of York, Minn., who survives him.
The surviving members of his family are one son, one daughter, seven grandchildren and four great grand-children.
He was a member of Co. C., 112th Reg. N. Y. Infantry and served until the close of the war and for seventy years has been an active member of the Baptist church.
Died at Cresco, Iowa, on September 12, 1915, aged ninety-nine years and nine days.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Pettit at the home Monday afternoon with burial at Stewartville, Minn.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, MN.
