One of the first settlers of New Oregon Township, James Hannegan, died recently at his home at Logan, Harrison County, Iowa, aged about 86 years. Mr. Hannegan built his first cabin in New Oregon grove near what is now known as Cottrell's Ford, and afterwards pre-empted what is now the Wm. Frank farm. He was united in marriage with Margaret Malone, who preceded him in death a number of years. He afterwards moved to Harrison County where he has since resided. He is survived by six children, four sons and two daughters, also two brothers and two sisters; one sister, Mrs. Cassie Pickley, of this place.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Dec. 10, 1831 and died May 17, 1915. It is unknown where he is buried; however, his wife is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Harrison County, IA.
