WEST DES MOINES - James Wayne Schultz, age 72, of West Des Moines, Iowa, died on Jan. 2, 2021, of prostate cancer.
As he wished, Jim has been cremated, and a memorial service will be planned for spring and summer at Sun Valley Lake and the Golden Ridge.
Jim was born in Cresco, Iowa, on April 25, 1948, to Shirley M. Gasser Schultz and Wayne Charles Schultz.
He married Marjorie Hadwen Schultz on Aug 18, 2001, in Des Moines. Their similar interests included being outdoors, on the water and watching football.
Jim graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco and was on the wrestling and football teams. After high school, he farmed on the family farm on the Golden Ridge. He enjoyed deer hunting with the group from Golden Ridge for over 55 years. After leaving the farm, he drove over-the-road semis for over two million accident-free miles.
His favorite places included the farm, Boundary Waters and Sun Valley Lake.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marge; children, Jamie (Badr) Qureshi of Allen, Texas and Kirk Schultz (Tanya Ferguson) of Ames, Iowa; a sister, Karen (Tom) Ringsdorf of Osage Beach, Mo.; a brother, Mark Schultz of Cresco; grandchildren Sunna, Zack and Sophia Qureshi and Callie Ferguson; and four nieces and a nephew.
Jim is preceded by his parents; aunts, Patsy Borgan, Barbara Jones and Wilma Caffrey; and an uncle, Raymond Gasser.
