Richard J Larson, age 66, of Chester, Iowa passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN on Monday, December 14, 2020.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather is going to be missed by so many. Richard loved going around to visit and spending time with his loved ones and friends. One of the best things about his visits was his contagious laugh.

Richard Larson was born June 20, 1954 as the first child to Charles and Ilene Larson. He was a busy child always helping on the farm and working on his cars. After graduating from Crestwood High School in 1972, he went on to Northeast Iowa Community College and started his lifelong career of welding.

After marrying, he continued to stay in Chester, IA where he raised his family of four children and was blessed to have many grandchildren and even great grandchildren. All of the kids brought so much joy to him.

Richard spent much of his life working on cars and engines. He was always there to lend a hand to all of his kids, nieces, nephews and friends to make sure everyone had cars to drive and tires without holes. He enjoyed cutting wood, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, hunting raccoons and having many dogs to enjoy his sport with.

As Richard’s family joined him with his oldest son at his bedside and everyone else on a video conference, they shared many prayers, stories, love and laughter to reminisce of Richard’s great life and hoped for a miracle. God called his son home with so many right along side him. He was so very loved and now is an angel to all.

Loved ones left behind and awaiting a heavenly reunion include: Richard’s wife, Kathy, his children Chad Larson, Jimmy (Kelly) Larson, Jason Larson and Nikki Larson; his grandchildren MaKenzie Swanson-Larson, Drake Allison, Cameron, Seth and Alayna Larson, Carston, Traetyn and Izik Larson, Ava and Boe Logue; his great grandchildren Ryland, Grace and Jacob Allison; his brother John (Rhonda) Larson; his sister Jolene (John Erbe) Lammers; his uncle and aunt Stanley and Joanne Larson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Welcoming him to his eternal home are his parents, Charles and Ilene Larson and an unborn child.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
