Killed by Lightning.
Elma, July 18.—A severe electric storm accompanied by a high wind passed over this place about 5 o’clock this evening, causing loss of life and doing great damage to property. At the farm of John Dewer, four miles west of town, lightning instantly killed Mrs. Dewer and her 14-year-old daughter and so shocked and burned another child that its injuries will probably result fatally. Fearful of the storm they had taken refuge in the cellar, and were there at the time the bolt struck the building, killing two outright and rendering the second daughter unconscious. The injuries of the other daughter are such that she is now in a precarious condition, and her recovery is doubtful.
