Born September 6, 1921 in Alta Vista to John Ross and Edna Iona Webb. She graduated from Alta Vista Public High School in 1939, while in school she worked at the telephone company in Alta Vista. Edna married Merle Schroeder on June 15, 1941 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was a very active member of the Elma United Methodist Church and served many years on the Howard Cemetery Board with the responsibility of plotting the cemetery. Edna worked as secretary at the Elma Coop Creamery as well as the school secretary for a time. She served as Secretary of the Elma Development Corporation while building Colonial Manor and did a great deal of volunteering in her community. There was likely never a conversation had that she did not speak of one or more of her 30 grandchildren and how proud she was of them. She gave the best hugs and loved getting them in return.
