CROWELL.
Mary Ellen Ulery was born at Somerset, Penn., July 28th, 1843, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kelsey La Valley in Minneapolis on the evening of Oct. 3rd, 1913, at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 5 days, after an illness lasting three weeks.
Deceased lost her parents at an early age and came to Iowa in 1851, after which the west was her home. She came to Granger, Fillmore county, Minn., in 1859 and was married to Edwin Crowell in 1862, having lived near that place ever since with the exception of most of the last two years which have been spent with her daughter in Minneapolis. This union was blessed with six children, three of whom with the husband have passed on before.
Mrs. Crowell was a kind and loving mother always ready in time of sickness among neighbors and friends.
Her death creates a vacancy that can not be filled. Not only do her beloved relatives mourn her loss but many friends in and around Granger will sorrow deeply. Funeral services were held at the home in Minneapolis at 1 o’clock Saturday Oct. 4th, .1913, after which the remains were taken to Granger, Minn., where funeral services were held in the M. E. church at that place. The remains were tenderly laid to rest beside her husband in the cemetery near by.
Those from a distance attending the funeral were her two daughters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schonmeyer, of St. Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Kelsey La Valley, of Minneapolis.
She also leaves to mourn her loss one son Robert R. Crowell, of Granger and six grand children.
