Marlene E. (Albertson) Hunter passed away on July 04, 2020, at Evans Memorial Home, after a steady decline in health.

Born and raised in Cresco Iowa, where she attended school and married her high school sweet heart.

Marlene was a “Marine Corp. wife” for nearly 30 years and no stranger to putting down and picking up roots. Through her travels she retained many lifelong friendships with other military wives she enjoyed exchanging letters and cards with.

After retiring from military life and moving into civilian life, Marlene worked at Deco Products and Cresco Care Center. She enjoyed going for coffee with friends, watching classic movies. In actual fact, she was able to see a favored actor (Gregory Peck) live at a speaking engagement that she and her daughter Valerie attended. Given that Marlene loved reading, she cared very much about the Cresco Public Library and as such she served as a member of the Friends of the Library. I recall when we lived in Cresco as youngsters Mom would send us off to the library as a way for us to entertain ourselves. Marlene also enjoyed her church as much as her church family, and serving both as she was able to.

Marlene leaves behind her brother Russell (Theresa) Albertson Fergus Falls, MN., half sister Constance Albertson Cresco, IA, a bother in-law Harold (Sharon) Hunter Encino, CA., a son Scott (Linda) Hunter Bartlett, TN., daughters Stephanie Barthelme Cresco, IA., Christy Robbins Lincoln, NE., Rene Schmit Wahoo, NE., Valerie (James) Rink Cresco, IA., Candace Haley Taylor, MI., Denise (Mark) Kissinger Cresco, IA., Kelly (Roy) Garza Houston, TX. Eighteen grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren, and a growing number of great, great, grandchildren. And nieces and nephews that she was very fond of.

She was predeceased by her husband Donald H. Hunter, her parents, Tedmar Albertson and Dorothy(Blomgren) Eidenschink, an infant brother, infant daughter, one sister in-law, one half brother, two son in-laws, and a grandson and granddaughter.

To all of Marlene’s friends and neighbors, thank you, for touching her life in the way that you have.

Private family services will be held at Lindstrom Funeral Home with burial at Orleans Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ridgeway, Iowa.
