ATLANTA, MO - Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Hruska, age 72, of Atlanta, Mo., passed away on May 2, 2020 at her home.
Graveside services were held on May 6, 2020, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott Funeral Home in Atlanta.
Kathy was born on July 11, 1947, in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Harriett (Hovey) Gager. She graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco. She moved to Atlanta 40 years ago and worked at Days Inn for over 30 years as the housekeeping manager. She was loved dearly, and she lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathy loved to cook and bake for big family get-togethers. She liked to listen to all different types of music and watch her many television programs. Through the years, she collected a vast assortment of anything with pigs on it. You were always welcome at Mama Hruska’s house. Kathy gave the best hugs, and it was said by one of her grandsons that she was always so soft and cuddly! Granny will always be loved and missed.
Kathy is survived by one sister, Marlys (Warren) Dobry of Monmouth, Ill.; three daughters, Melissa Faught, Shelly Hruska and Melinda (Chris) Baker, all of Atlanta; son, Eric (Beckie) Hruska of Atlanta; grandchildren, Dustin (Melanie), Sheree (Mitchell), Nicole (Kyle), Jake, Katy (Travis), Miranda (Johnny), Dylan, Paris, Taylor, Aleassa and Grady; great-grandchildren, Avery, Blake, Hayley, Lathan, Kale, Karter, Briley, Rizzo, Nolan, Rylea, London and Izzy; and several family members and friends from the Cresco area.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Nathan Hruska and Brian Hruska and his fiancé Whitney Garnett; and one son-in-law, Anthony “Red” Faught.
