OBITUARY.
PRIVAT.
Abraham Privat was born in Toronto, Canada, September 4, 1845.
He died at Florenceville, Iowa, May 27, 1911, aged 65 years 8 months and 27 days. He leaves, surviving him, his wife, seven sons and four daughters. One son and one daughter have preceded him into the great beyond.
These few lines tell the story of the birth and of a life between them, his friends, business associates and children can fill in the record. It does not consist of a recital of many acres of land acquired, much money hoarded, of power or position. Rather is it the story of a life of sterling honesty, and fidelity to duty. He had the every day virtues that made him a good father, a kind, generous and helpful neighbor, a firm and constant friend. In his last hours he was comforted by the knowledge that God was with him and sustaining him, and he fell asleep, gently and with confidence that all was well with his soul. His wife and children will miss him, but their memory of him will be untainted by anything unworthy in his life. His neighbors and friends will miss a good citizen and friend.
Funeral services were held at the home, on May 30th at 4 p. m., conducted by a nephew of the deceased, the Rev. John S. Cole of St Andrew’s Episcopal church, Waverly, Iowa. The Masonic funeral rites were conducted by the Cresco Lodge before the remains were taken to Milwaukee, Wis., for interment in the family lot at the Union Cemetery. COM.
