OBITUARY.
Mrs. John Halverson of our city passed away at the family home early Friday morning of last week, the 20th of Dec., after a very long and protracted siege of illness and suffering, and thus went to spend the blessed Christmas in the eternal home of joy. The funeral was held from the First Lutheran church Monday afternoon, the 23rd, with interment in Oaklawn cemetery, Rev. Lauritz Larsen officiating.
Mrs, Sarah Halverson was born in Norway in May, 1847 of the parents Jurgen Hansen and wife. In early childhood she came to this country with her parents, who settled in Wisconsin. Later the family moved to the socalled Little Turkey settlement, south of Cresco. While living here she was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Calmar by the Rt. Rev. Dr. V. Koren.
In 1880, the 17th of April, she was married to John Halverson at Cresco, since which time she has lived here, where she made a large circle of friends. She has been a member of the First Lutheran church of this city for about fifteen years.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband; one son, Martin, of Fargo, N. D.; one daughter, Anette, of this city; and one sister. Miss Belle Olson, of Cresco. Two children have gone before her to the life beyond.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone shows she died in 1913 which is obviously an error. Also her name is spelled Halvorson on her gravestone.
