OBITUARY.
Kellogg.
Arthur Everett Kellogg was born at Vernonville, Ont., Sept. 15, 1863, the eldest son of John and Elizabeth Kellogg. His early life was spent on the home farm in Canada. In 1885 he went to Ridgeway, Pa., to study dentistry with a cousin who followed that profession. He was graduated from the Baltimore Dental school in the class of 1888, and came to Cresco in 1889, since which time he has followed his chosen profession in this city.
In 1886 he was converted and united with the Congregational church of Ridgeway. Pa., but on coming to Cresco he united with the Baptist church of this city, of which since that time he has been an active and devoted member.
On Dec. 20, 1894, he was united in marriage with Effie M. Tinker. To this union two children were born, Hazel and Hazlett, who with the sorrowing wife are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. He also leaves to mourn his loss the aged father and mother, one sister. Mrs. C. H. Winters, and one brother. J. P. Kellogg, both of Vernonville, Ont., besides other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
On April 18, 1912, he was obliged to give up his practice because of illness, which baffled the skill of the best physicians of our city and at their request and advice he went to Rochester. Minn., June 24 for examination, which resulted in the decision that he was suffering from the dread disease, cancer of the stomach.
After weeks of intense suffering which he bore patiently and uncomplaingly he departed this life Sunday evening, July 28, 1912.
The funeral services were held in the Baptist church, the pastor and Rev. J. Gammons officiating. The Masons had charge of the service and conducted their part of the service in the cemetery, after which the body of one of our best and most respected citizens was laid to rest in Oaklawn cemetery.
