OBITUARY.
Alvin Tyler Searles was born in Foreston, Howard County, Iowa, February 1, 1857, and has lived in Howard County all his life. About three years ago he began to suffer, but not until last fall did be become seriously ill. Every effort put forth to help him proved unavailing, and on Thursday evening at about 9 o'clock he departed this life at the age of 55 years, 3 months and 2 days. He leaves to mourn his departure, two brothers, George, who resides at Canton, S. D., and Clarence, who resides in Lime Springs. The funeral was held in the Methodist church, Saturday afternoon, Rev. Maxwell officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Pleasant Hill Cemetery shows he was born in 1861.
