After an illness extending throughout the winter, Mrs. John E. Peck passed away Tuesday evening, and her funeral took place from the residence yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Peck was one of the old residents of the county, beloved by all her acquaintances. We will publish a suitable obituary in our next issue.

OBITUARY.
PECK.
Mary Emeline Barnes was born on Dec. 26, 1836, in Oneida Co., N. Y. Early in life she moved with her parents to Wisconsin, where on Dec. 29, 1857, she was united in marriage to John E. Peck. Three years after her marriage she surrendered her husband to her country and remained at home for four long years, during which the war of the rebellion was being fought out. Her husband returning from the war they moved to Cresco, Ia., in 1866.
To this union was born two sons, Edward Barnes Peck, who died in infancy, and Chas. B. Peck, of Duluth, Minn., and two daughters, Addie B. Irvine of La Crosse, Wis., and Mrs. Louisa Manette Farnsworth, of Cresco, Ia. She fell asleep on April 9th, 1912, at 9:00 p. m., the burial taking place from her late home on April 11, 1912, in Oak Lawn cemetery, Cresco, Ia. , Dr. D. T.. Robertson, pastor of the Congregational church, of which Mrs. Peck was an honored and respected member, officiating.
She is survived by the above named children, her husband and one sister. Mrs. Peck’s motto was “If you cannot speak well of a person, then say nothing concerning them” and to this motto she adhered.
