Mrs. W. F. Friend passed away Monday evening, after prolonged illness. The funeral was held at the home yesterday morning, Rev, Gammons officiating, with interment in New Oregon cemetery. We are promised an obituary of deceased for our next issue.

OBITUARY.
FRIEND.
Emma Jane Mintey was born in New Oregon Nov. 15, 1859, and lived in that township most of her life, or until about ten years ago, when she removed to the present home. She was married to Wm. Friend March 20, 1881. To this union were born three children— Ethel, Alfred and Alice. Alfred having preceded both father and mother to the better land. In addition to the two daughters that are left to mourn her lose, an aged father and mother, one brother and one sister, besides numerous frends{sp} and relatives.
Mrs. Friend was an earnest Christian and was for many years a member of the Congregational church.
After a long and painful illness the deceased departed this life at about 8 o’clock Feb. 12, at St. Joseph's Mercy hospital, where she had been so kindly taken care of.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Gammons, were held at her home on Thursday morning. Burial was in the New Oregon cemetery.
