J. S. McKay, one of the old residents of the county, passed away early Saturday morning at the home of Mrs. Austin Wentworth, in Cresco. He returned in the spring from Western Canada and has been ill ever since. The funeral takes place this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Baptist church.

OBITUARY.
MCKAY.
John S. McKay was born in Embro, Canada, of Scotch parentage. At the age of 27 years he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ross. No children were born to this union. He and his wife moved from Canada to Iowa over 43 years ago, where they have lived nearly all the time since.
He departed this life July 2nd, 1910, having reached the age of 73 years, and leaves to mourn his death his wife, his adopted daughter, Mrs. Wentworth of this city and his nephew Mr. Ross of Big Lake, Minn. Mrs. Wentworth and Mr. Ross were raised by Mr. and Mrs. McKay and were to them as their own children. He also leaves four sisters and three brothers besides many relatives and friends. He was not a member of any church but was moral and industrious and showed much Interest in spiritual things.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery and that he was born in 1835.
