Charles Craghill Dead.
Ed. Craghill has received copies of Santa Cruz, California, newspapers containing accounts of the death and burial of his eldest brother, Charles, a resident for many years of that city. His death occurred on Thursday, Feb. 10th, after an illness of four days, although having been in poor health for a year or more.
The deceased was born in Shropshire, England, Nov. 21, 1830. Was married in London, in 1853, and came to the U. S. in 1857, locating in New Oregon, and enlisting from there in the 38th Iowa Infantry, serving throughout the war. In 1871, the family left Iowa and went to California in 1890 locating a( Santa Cruz and he was elected Justice of the Peace, an office he filled until his death, no one being able to defeat him. Mr. Craghill was a member of the G. A. R. the Workmen, and for years has been an earnest worker in the M. E. church of which he was a member. He leaves a widow and five children, all of whom reside on the Coast.
