Mr. and Mrs. George Owens mourn the loss of their second son, John, aged ten, who died yesterday morning after an illness of but a few days. As we understand the facts, the boy had been ailing some since Thursday but not so seriously as to seem that a physician was necessary until Sunday evening, but the case was not pronounced diphtheria until the death of the boy the following morning. A sad feature of the affair was the absence of the father on a business trip to Minnesota. He could not be reached but arrived home on the afternoon train knowing nothing of his loss until taken aside and so informed by waiting friends. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of the entire community, and the united prayer is that the family may be spared further affliction.
