James Walker passed away at about 7 o’clock Monday morning, after an illness of over three weeks. The funeral takes place at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Fisk, at three o’clock this afternoon, and the remains will be taken tomorrow to his old home in Clayton county for interment.

OBITUARY.
J. M. Walker was born July 24, 1828, at Louisville, Ky., and in 1836 moved with his parents to Wisconsin, and three years later came to Iowa, living in Dubuque, Delaware and Clayton counties until 1868, when he came to Howard county where he has resided since.
March 24, 1849, the deceased was united in marriage to Zilpha L. Joclin, who died July 25, 1855. To them three children were born, two of whom, Will Walker of Howard Center, and Mrs. Mary E. Fisk, of Cresco, still survive.
July 31, 1865 he was married to Mrs. Abbie Woodworth, who passed away May 21, 1898. To this union five children were born, one of whom, Cora Jennings passed away in 1902. Those remaining are Mrs. Carrie Lord, of Prior Lake, Minn., Mrs. Lottie Hastings and Lee Walker, of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Stella Patterson, of Cresco.
The deceased was ill about three weeks, the end coming October 4, 1909, at the home of Mrs. Mary Fisk. Funeral services were held on Tuesday of last week, conducted by Rev. Bell, and the day following the remains were taken to Monona for interment in the family lot in Pleasant Ridge cemetery.
