Dr. J. A. Barrett passed away Tuesday evening after a long illness. The funeral takes place Saturday afternoon at 2:20 o’clock at the residence, in charge of the Masonic fraternity. The remains will be taken to Canada for burial.

BARRETT.
J. A. Barrett was born in Fenagh Vale, county Prescott, Ontario, Sept. 7th, 1855. He was educated in the Collegiate Institute of Ottawa, and later entered McGill Medical College, Montreal, from which he graduated in June, 1884. He came to Cresco in August, 1884, and began the practice of medicine, and resided here until his death which occurred Sept. 14th, 1909. Oct. 24th, 1886, he was married to Louise M. Toole, who with four brothers and three sisters survive him. One sister died in infancy. His brother Donald A. Barrett was present at the funeral which was held Saturday under the direction of the Masonic order, and he accompanied the remains to Fenagh Vale for burial, a town founded by the Barretts many years ago.
