HAUBRICH
Joseph J. Haubrich was born at Trier, Germany, June 11, 1821.
In 1851 he was married to Catherine Rosch and in 1870 came to America, settling first at Newport, Rhode Island, and in 1873 he moved to Winneshiek county, Iowa, and settled on a farm near Old Mission, where he resided until a few years ago, and by industry and frugality, assisted by his worldly career he never lost sight of the Almighty Ruler of all things and always was in close communion with Him.
After leaving the farm he moved to Cresco where five years ago his wife passed away, since which time he has made his home with his children, of whom seven are living: Peter, of Chicago; Mrs. Theo. Smith, of Fort Atkinson; John, of Carroll; Mrs. Wm. Steffes, of Calmar; Joe and Mrs. Henry Rink, of Cresco; and Martin, of Calmar; two of the children having died in infancy, and there are 31 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
After an illness of a few weeks, Mr. Haubrich died at the home of his oldest daughter, Mrs. Theodore Smith, near Fort Atkinson, Jan. 29, 1909, and on Feb. 2nd was placed at rest at Cresco beside his wife; Rev. Marshalek conducting the services at Fort Atkinson, and Rev. Loosbrock at Cresco.
Thus closes the chapter of a long and useful life. Many were the blessings bestowed on him and most worthily so, for he lived a clean, honorable and upright life.—Calmar Courier.

Transcriber’s Note: His last name is spelled two different ways but his gravestone shows Haubrich.
