News has been received of the sudden death by heart disease of Henry Widner, at the home of his brother Spencer Widner in Chili, Monroe county, New York, where he was spending the summer with relatives whom he had not seen for about forty years. Mr. Widner came to Iowa when a young man, and for a number of years practiced law in Cresco, where he was known as “Judge Widner”. In 1881 he married Mrs. Mary A. Allen and removed to South Dakota and later to Sioux City, where he lived until after the death of his wife on Feb. 25, 1903. He helped organize the Republican party in his native state and ever remained a loyal member of it. While belonging to no church organization he ever lived the “Golden Rule” and in all the affairs of life his known integrity made his word as good as his bond.
