Larry Rickard, age 80, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 in Cresco, Iowa.

Larry Dean Rickard was born on October 17, 1938 in Britt, Iowa to William and Mary (Border) Rickard. He attended school in the Lime Springs area. On March 18, 1961 he married Shirley Mecklenburg in Preston, Minnesota.

To this union four children were born. Larry’s working years included time at Wapsi Produce in Decorah and most recently, Hawkeye Sanitation in Cresco. Stock car races were a favorite pastime for Larry. He attended the local race tracks and also enjoyed watching Nascar on television. Larry was an avid collector, from pens to classic cars. It was no surprise to find Larry with a word search puzzle book in his hands. He loved a good Mounds candy bar and a bowl of soup beans. Larry enjoyed the company of others. Spending time together with his children and grandchildren at family gatherings was something he always looked forward too.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Cresco, four children; William (Lenora Aversano) Rickard of San Antonio, TX, Christy Warnke of Austin, MN, Robert (Jennifer Redman) Rickard of Albert Lea, MN and Theresa Hughes of Mabel, MN, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and two siblings; Rosemary Briney of Colorado and Gary Rickard of Owatonna, MN.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, 2 granddaughters; Rebecca and Elizabeth Rickard, two brothers; Donald and Richard Rickard and two sisters; Margaret Rickard and Georgie Burgess.
