OBITUARY.
After a lingering illness Mrs. Margaret Achatz died at her home at Doon, Iowa, on Friday, November 13, 1908, at 10 o’clock a. m. The deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Milz of Cresco She was born at Whitewater, Wis. January 16, 1857. At the age of nine years she moved with her parents to Cresco where she resided until January 27, 1885, when she was united in marriage to J. J. Achatz of Granger, Minn., at which place she resided for five years. From Granger they removed to Larrabee, Iowa. After remaining there ten years, went to Algona, Iowa, where they lived a short time. From Algona they moved to Doon, the place of her residence at the time of her death. The remains were brought to Cresco Tuesday morning for burial.
Requiem High Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s church, by Father Loosebrok. Her remains were laid to rest in St. Joseph’s cemetery.
The deceased leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two daughters, two sons, a mother, two sisters and four brothers.
Mrs. Achatz was a woman of many fine qualities, being highly respected and loved by all who knew her; she was a loving wife and mother. Her one aim in life was embodied in these words: “Do thy duty, that is best, leave unto the Lord the rest."
Those from abroad who attended the funeral in addition to the husband of the deceased were her four children, R. V. of Chicago, F. L. of Bushnel, S. D., Regina and Ruth, of Doon; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Sudtelege, of Remsen, Iowa; a brother, John Milz, of St. Cloud, Minn.; and four brothers of Mr. Achatz, Herman, William, Fred and Charles, the latter accompanied by his wife, all of Harmony, Minnesota.Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Calvary Cresco shows she was born June 16, 1857.
