Charles City, IA 50616David's story began on April 3, 1937, in Cresco, IA. He was the youngest child of George and Cora (Vaala) Anderson. He grew up on the family farm in Jerico Iowa where he was baptized and confirmed at the Jerico Lutheran Church. He graduated from Cresco High School, attended college in Mankato, and served 4 years in the US Army where he met the love of his life Phyllis S. Howard of Decatur, Alabama. After only 2.5 months of courting, they were married on January 12, 1958.
David and Phyllis upon exiting the service, moved to Iowa to raise their five children. David worked at Thermagas, in Decorah, IA, then moved to Farm Service in New Hampton, IA where he worked until medical troubles caused him to retire. In 2001 he received a heart transplant at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, then spent the next 17+ years enjoying the extra life God granted him with his friends and family who he loved dearly.
David loved the outdoors; fishing, camping, boating, water skiing and was an avid golfer. He also loved traveling the world and especially to Texas and Florida getting out of the harsh Iowa winters. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends raising a ruckus and living life to the fullest.
