Col. Van Leuven Dead.
Col. H. C. Van Leuven, a former resident of Lime Springs died in Wash¬ington, D. C., last week and was buried in beautiful Arlington cemetery Aug. 17th. At the time of his death he was clerk of the house judiciary committee, a position which he secured through the late Senator Allison. He served in the Ninth Iowa during the civil war. About 25 years ago he published the Tribune in Lime Springs and later published the Vidette in Spring Valley. He was a brother of Geo. M. Van Leuven of Osage.Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows he was born March 25, 1844.
