Our people were greatly shocked Tuesday evening to hear that Mr. and Mrs. Fred Salisbury had received a telegram announcing the death of their daughter, Mrs. Laurel Hewes at Lemmon, S. D. Another telegram delivered a few hours previous had brought the news that she was very ill and could not live. The cause of her death is not yet known by her parents. Although she has been afflicted with kidney trouble for some time, a letter from the deceased received by her mother on Monday stated that she was feeling as well as usual with the exception of a slight indisposition. Owing to not being able to properly prepare the remains for shipment home, the interment was at Lemmon. Mrs. Hewes leaves a husband and a four year old daughter to mourn her loss, in addition to a large number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. She was born March 29, 1886 and died August 4, 1908.
