Obituary.
Alvin Taft was born in Oswego County, New York, June 16, 1834, and departed life in Cresco, Ia., June 29, 1908.
While a small boy he moved with his parents to Sandusky County, Ohio, where they lived for several years, afterwards moving to Hillsdale County, Michigan, where he grew to manhood and where in May, 1855, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Martin. The following spring, accompanied by his wife and parents, he came with teams to Howard County, Iowa, and settled on a farm in Albion Township, where he resided until the spring of 1884, when he moved to Cresco and has since resided here until the time of his death.
He survived by his wife and two children, H. A. Taft, of Monticello, Minn., and Mrs. J. J. House, of Cresco.
The funeral will be held this afternoon at the Congregational church at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. H. J. Hinman conducting the service.
