Joseph Krachmer was born August 14, 1836, in Bohemia. He was married to Katherine Hovorka in 1875 in Protivin, Bohemia. In 1884 they came to America and settled near Protivin, Howard county, Iowa. In 1891 they moved near Lourdes.
March 3, 1908 he came to live with his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Lathrop. He died May 10, 1908, of Bright's disease. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Lathrop and Mrs. Albert Bonne, and one son, Frank, all of Howard Center, Howard county, Iowa, to mourn his death.
The funeral took place Tuesday morning at the German Catholic church, Rev. Father Loosbrock celebrating High Mass. Interment in St. Joseph’s cemetery.
