BUCHANAN.
Jane Adamson was born on Dec. 12, 1820, in County Eatrim, Ireland. She was married to Hugh Buchanan in 1841. They came to America in the year 1847 and settled in the state of New York where they resided until the fall of 1865, when they removed to Dane county, Wis. They came from there to Howard county, Iowa, in the fall of 1872. In November, 1882, her husband died after which she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Marlow. Mrs. Marlow and family moved to Dell Rapids, S. D., in 1900 and her mother accompanied her where she resided at the time of her death. The deceased was the mother of nine children, eight of whom are living: David Buchanan of Monticello, Minn., Mrs. Eliza Clark of Logan, Iowa; Robert Buchanan of Sioux Falls, S. D ; George Buchanan of Bonair, Iowa; Mrs. Sarah Marlow and Misses Maggie Ryan of Dell Rapids, S. D , Mrs. Mary Lusk of Mankato. Minn., and Mrs. Martha Elderkin of Cresco, Iowa.
There were six of her family at her bedside when she died. She was a loving wife and a kind mother and she will be sadly missed by those she has left behind. She united with the Presbyterian church when she was a young woman and has always lived a consistent Christian life.
